Profile : the people

The company's size is one of our most important advantages. The practice is large enough to offer a high degree of technical expertise across the fields covered by architecture and planning and small enough to ensure that clients deal directly with senior decision-makers.

The practice is led by its directors Roger Heathwood and Guy Bleney.

Roger Heathwood Dip Arch (QIT) DQIT (URP), FAIA, RIBA, MPIA

Roger graduated from QIT (now QUT) with a Diploma in Architecture. He subsequently attained a Graduate Diploma in Urban & Regional Planning, again from QIT. He is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects and a Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Roger holds registration as an Architect in Queensland and Victoria.

He has worked with private and government architectural and town planning practices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane as well as South-East Asia (as Chief Architect/ Planner for the Central Trengganu Development Authority) and Central America (as Architect/ Planner for the Belize Public Investment Centre).

Roger has a special interest in the relationship of architecture and its environment, with an emphasis on energy efficiency. He has particular interest in the design of buildings for education, science and places of worship.

Guy Bleney BDesSt Qld, BArch Qld

Guy graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Design Studies and a Bachelor of Architecture, and is a registered architect in Queensland.

Guy worked in three Queensland practices before joining Heathwood Cardillo Wilson where he is now a director of the company. His expertise and skills as an architect and his systematic approach to all tasks are highly appreciated by our clients, and our staff.

His ecclesiological study "The Influence of Contemporary Liturgy on the Architeture of Catholic Parish Churches" has been and is of great assistance to this office and our clients, in the design of new church buildings and in the reordering of existing buildings to better suit current Church rites.

Guy enjoys undertaking the full range of architectural tasks and has particular skills in design, documentation and contract administration as well as imparting the high ideals of architecture to all who work in the practice.

His special interests are in creating life-enhancing built environments for work, learning, research and worship.
